Writer | Director
Joseph Burch graduated from USC's School of Cinematic Arts with a BA in Film and Television Production. During his time at USC, Joseph worked for Oscar nominated producer David Permut. After graduating, Joseph directed his first independent short film, Mare, which went on to win Best Director, Best Horror Short, and Best Short Editor at the 2021 Austin International Art Festival. While continuing to write and direct, Joseph also worked as a writer's assistant and research editor for novelist David Bender, assisting in research and ghostwriting for a number of high-profile celebrity biographies.
Joseph currently lives in Los Angeles, where he works as a freelance reader for companies like Watch This Ready, Passenger Pictures, and NYC Midnight. His latest short film, Stains, had its Los Angeles premiere at the HollyShorts Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Kodak Best Shot on Film (16mm) award. Stains has been nominated for and won multiple awards at FilmQuest, Poppy Jasper International Film Festival, and Hollywood Shortsfest.
Joseph is currently developing his horror feature debut, Nail-Biter.
